Professor Michael Ashburner recognised by ISCB
The outstanding contribution Professor Michael Ashburner has made to computational biology has been recognised in his recent ISCB [International Society for Computational Biology] Accomplishment by a Senior Scientist Award. Alfonso Valencia, chair of the awards committee, explained that this was because '... his work is now seen as a landmark and an achievement in technology', and he added, 'We're lucky to have such an inspirational figure in the community. This award has been well deserved for a number of years.' Professor Ashburner began in this Department as an undergraduate, remained for his PhD, returned to teach, and recently retired.
