Network addresses in Genetics are allocated by DHCP. You may need to change from static addressing to dynamic sometimes

Resetting various operating systems to use DHCP


 Open system preferences and go to network preferences. Ensure that "Configure IPv4" is set to "Using DHCP"

Mac10.10 network preferences


  1. To open an administrative command prompt,
    Win XP: click Start and choose Run. Enter cmd in the run box and click OK
    Win V/7: click Start and then type cmd in the Search programs and files box.
    Win 8: go to the start panel then type cmd
  2. Win V/7/8: Right-click the CMD.exe icon, and then click Run as administrator.
    Win XP: Skip.
  3. If/when the User Account Control box appears, click Yes.
  4. At the command prompt, enter the following command, and then press Enter:
    netsh int ip reset c:\resetlog.txt
  5. Restart the computer.
