Major BBSRC award to Departments of Genetics and Biochemistry

The BBSRC [Biotechnology and Biological Sciences Research Council] announced the latest tranche of strategic LoLa [Longer and Larger] awards on 11 December 2013.

One of these is a £2.8M award to Professor Steve Russell and Professor Alfonso Martinez-Arias of the Department of Genetics, Kathryn Lilley in the Department of Biochemistry, and colleagues from the University of Manchester and UCL. Led by Simon Hubbard in Manchester, the BBSRC Drosophila Developmental Interactome Project aims to carry out a quantitative analysis of the Drosophila proteome across embryonic development, characterise protein interactions in key signalling pathways, and relate alternative mRNA splicing to sub-cellular protein localisation.
