Department of Genetics

This  important open discussion between publishers, funders and researchers was held on 25 October.

Biomedical publishing faces significant challenges which will affect career development as well as the delivery of the benefits of new discoveries. Access to preprints could revolutionise the way science is communicated. It could free us from the increasing gridlock of conventional publishing.

The event was organised by  Prof Alfonso Martinez Arias, and Department members Aylwyn Scally and Sudhakaran Prabakaran contributed. Publishing innovators represented included: BioRxiv, eLife, Company of Biologists, and funders such as BBSTC and Wellcome Trust
