Address: C/o Department of Genetics, University of Cambridge, Downing Street, Cambridge CB2 3EH, United Kingdom
Summary
In terms of genetic expertise, I am a generalist, something which is becoming increasingly rare nowadays. I began as a microbial geneticist , and progressed through research on plant genomes to my current interests in how humans evolved, and in particular the interactions between cultural and biological evolution. For the last nine years , I have divided my time between being a lecturer in Genetics and being Director of Medical and Veterinary education in the Faculty of Biology. This entails being responsible for the education of medical and veterinary students first three years of their course in Cambridge, liasing with the Clinical schools, and with external bodies such as the GMC and RCVS. I have also been involved in the government of the University, through serving as an elected member of the University Council and as a member of the General Board of the Faculties, and am currently Vice -president of Wolfson College
