Department of Genetics

Genetics Green Team

The Genetics Green Team latest initiative is a Stationery Amnesty which will be running on Wednesday 05 October.  Department members can donate un-needed stationery to a new and loving home.

Donation boxes will be located by reception and in the tea room from 26 September. Do you have stationery you are not using? Pens, pencils, notebooks, staplers, staples, folders, plastic wallets, dividers, clips and pins…we want them all!

Staff and Postgraduates from across the department, each with a common interest of wanting to do more, make up the Genetics Green Team. We work together to implement greener processes and ways of working, with some fun thrown in for good measure! Set up in January 2022, the Green Team has already started to make positive changes to the Department:

- March 2022, the Green Team and Events Committee held a Rescued Bake Off during Food Waste Action Week

- The Green Team took part in the University-wide Green Impact scheme. This will continue this new academic year, with hopefully an award at the end!

- Senior management agreed that the printing paper bought by the department will be recycled paper.

- Staff are encouraged to use scrap paper for rough printing to save the good paper for important documents.

All staff and students are welcome to join. Get in touch on gen-greenteam@lists.cam.ac.uk
