We aim to support prospective applicants from the UK or Ireland, in groups currently underrepresented in postgraduate research in the University of Cambridge, e.g. due to ethnic background, socioeconomic background, disability, other protected characteristics.
1. AIM PhD is a 6-month, online programme to assist applicants from underrepresented groups with their application to doctoral study at the University of Cambridge. During this time, you'll receive personalised support from admissions staff and students who have been through the application process themselves, giving you the confidence to make a competitive application to Cambridge.
2. Experience Postgrad Life Sciences is an annual scheme that offers paid 8-week research internships, in partnership with Corpus Christi College, to UK and Republic of Ireland residents who are studying at a UK or Republic of Ireland university for their undergraduate bachelor degree and are in their penultimate year of study. more details are here:
3. We are participating in Close the Gap, a project where Oxford and Cambridge Universities are teaming up with various stakeholders to examine graduate admissions processes. Close the Gap has produced a guide to help applicants from underrepresented groups navigate the admissions process, including advice on approaching supervisors, funding, research experience, writing a statement and interviews. This general advice should be read together with the specific requirements on our website and in the University course directory.
