Dr Iliana Bista

Visiting PostDoc : Durbin Group

I am working as a Postdoctoral Fellow on the Vertebrates Genomes Project (VGP) at the Sanger Institute, sequencing reference quality genomes across vertebrate species with particular focus on fish. Additionally I am focusing on the study of genome evolution of the Antarctic Notothenioid fish radiation. My post is shared between Sanger Institute and Cambridge University, in affiliation with Prof. Richard Durbin (Genetics Department) and Prof. Eric Miska (Gurdon Institute).

Other past and continuous activities involve exploring biodiversity of freshwater and marine ecosystems using High Throughput Sequencing applications such as metabarcoding of environmental DNA (eDNA) and metagenomics, for environmental monitoring and conservation.
