This is probably a bad idea. I'm just experimenting with Kerberos and don't have full control over my reverse dns.
To override 10.9.8.7
Append to your named.conf (for ubuntu, named.conf.local):
zone "7.8.9.10.in-addr.arpa" in {
type master;
// specific filename doesn't really matter
file "/etc/bind/db.7.8.9.10.in-addr.arpa";
}
And create a zonefile like:
7.8.9.10.in-addr.arpa IN SOA dnsserver.my.example.com. hostmaster.example.com. (
2004071349 ; serial
10800 ; refresh (3 hours)
900 ; retry (15 minutes)
1814400 ; expire (3 weeks)
10800 ; minimum (3 hours)
)
NS dnsserver.my.example.com.
$TTL 600 ; 10 minutes
PTR thing1.foo.my.example.com.
